Rotational Graduate Scheme
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Colchester Global Investors for a Graduate Trainee to join the Company, on an 18-month rotational program. The program is designed to give the candidate a broad overview of the various roles and responsibilities involved in managing assets for institutional clients in the global sovereign bond and currency asset class. The program will involve rotations around the dealing, risk and investment management departments, with the majority of the program being spent within the investment management department.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate who is looking to start out their career in the asset management industry, with a particular interest in Investment Management.
The Role
Investment Management
- Learning about ongoing portfolio maintenance and review, involving traditional portfolio management, monitoring of portfolio’s and ensuring allocations, exposures and risk are correct.
- Supporting the investment managers where necessary on process, country or adhoc requests.
- Portfolio optimisation, construction and implementation.
- Beginning fundamental investment research, encompassing macro sovereign balance sheet analysis and inflation forecasting, ongoing country monitoring and debt sustainability analysis.
Dealing
- Understanding the integral role the dealing team plays in execution, portfolio management and administration, and guideline adherence.
- Learning best execution practices, market conventions and instruments.
- Working in conjunction with other teams on projects involving trade data validation and analysis, trade automation and looking to further develop trade workflows.
- Liaising with the Investment Management, Risk and the Compliance teams with regard to matters such as Portfolio exposures and daily guideline reports.
Risk
- Learning about the processes and systems that present risk management information on portfolios.
- Gaining an understanding of the risk metrics, tolerances, and their implications for portfolio management.
- Assisting in testing new analytical software and tools to ensure compliance with user requirements and specifications.
- Supporting the investment managers in portfolio analysis, or marketing and client servicing with client queries.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Economics
- Knowledge of a Programming Language would be advantageous but not essential
- Strong Team Player, ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team
- Flexible with a can do attitude
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-starter, able to demonstrate a good use of initiative.
